Tips for Getting your Dog to "Come"

Have you ever called your dog and your dog turns and looks at you then takes off running in the opposite direction? Unfortunately this happens to me way too often. So I thought I would share a couple tips on how to get your dog to come back.
The first thing you can try is to call her again and when she looks at you,  you turn around and start running away from her.
If that doesn't work call her again until she looks at you then drop to the ground (curl up in a ball or just lay flat). She will think you're playing a game and will want to play along.
When you're dog comes always give her lots of praise or/and a treat.
These two tips I just shared never fail with Mandy. I always feel kinda sneaky after I do one of these.

What I have found out with Mandy is that she needs a variety of treats, or she will get board. :D
Here are a couple of Treat Variety packs you can buy for your dog to make training Fun and yummy.

  1. Great tips! We have a dog and I have found if she is running away and we keep calling her name she just looks at us and keeps running but if we yell no then it is almost as if she starts feeling guilty for running away and then we can just walk over to her and grab her! But that is more if she is running away and not so much as to get her to come!
